No, this is pretty much on Trump. And Trump alone. And I'll cop to my
partisanship - there has never been a president (in my lifetime) that I have opposed more completely and from whom I perceive more potential danger, so yes, like any other human, my viewpoint is colored by that opinion.
The point with Trump is that he always seeks to divide, with the rare exceptions of completely scripted remarks (which he will generally walk back in extemporaneous remarks some time later). He thrives in the culture war, and the more divisive, the better.
The "Fake Media, Enemy of the People" - what can that possibly serve to do but further polarize us and increase the potential for an escalating political civil war? Compare and contrast these remarks after a spate of violence in this country, and those made by presidents calling for unity after other crises, like 9/11, or OK City. Those were calls for unity without pointing the finger at some scapegoat.
Trump's not making a call for unity at all. He is making a call for an end to dissent against Trumpism, lamely dressed up as a call for unity. And as always he is trying to enlist his fanbase in the effort by demonizing the media.
Think about it, my Trumpie friends - "True Enemies of the People" - who's really "triggered"?
